# Lynx Kitchen AS > Lynx Kitchen is a Norwegian technology company developing and delivering centrifugal grease separators for commercial kitchen ventilation. The system keeps ventilation ducts chemically clean through continuous, automatic grease drainage — no chemicals, no duct cleaning. Company: Lynx Kitchen AS Org. no.: 934 147 286 Address: Fossegrenda 3, 7038 Trondheim, Norway Contact: Robin Mælen — robin@malenbv.no — +47 415 68 506 Website: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/ ## Technology Lynx Kitchen uses a rotating mesh that spins at 75–314 G centrifugal force — up to 440 times stronger than the industry's passive solutions (0.71 G). Grease and liquid particles down to 0.3 µm are ejected radially, collected, and drained continuously. Lynx works closely with Camfil and uses Camfil filters to capture dry particles. ## Specifications - Centrifugal force: 75–314 G - Separation: 100% of liquid particles down to 0.3 µm - Capacity: 850 m³/h (1,000 m³/h at reduced separation requirement) - Power: 90 W per unit - Voltage: 230 V - Duct diameter: Fits any dimension (standard 150–350 mm) - Connection: Standard flange connection (inline) - Material: AISI 316 stainless steel - Control: Schneider Electric — cloud-based logging - Patent: NO20092260 (priority 2009) + PCT/EP2021/080260 (2021) - Patent coverage: 10 jurisdictions, expiry 2041–42 ## Regulatory compliance Lynx Kitchen retrofits upstream of the fan and duct and does not change their fire classification. - Norway: TEK17, Imkanal 2012:2, NS-EN 16282 — Only documented solution meeting Avinor Oslo Airport's grease-separation requirements at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. - Sweden: BBR 5:5332, Imkanal 2012:2, LSO — Documented compliance path under BBR 5:5332. - France: Arrêté du 25 juin 1980 GC 11, NF EN 16282, EN 12101-3 F400 — Fail-open ensures smoke evacuation during fire. - Germany: VDI 2052, DIN 18869, DIN EN 16282, M-LüAR — Supports clean grease duct principle. - Spain: CTE DB-SI, RITE, UNE-EN 16282, UNE-EN 12101-3 — Supports DB-SI fire propagation limitation. - Italy: Codice di Prevenzione Incendi, UNI EN 16282, UNI EN 12101-3 — Limits combustible deposits. - United Kingdom and Ireland: BESA DW/172, TR/19, BS EN 16282, BS EN 12101-3 — Reduces cleaning frequency and insurance exposure. - Canada: NFPA 96, CAN/ULC-S649 (listing in progress), NECB — Key differentiator: enables heat recovery. - United States: NFPA 96, UL 1046 (listing in progress), IMC, IECC — Specified as supplementary separation stage. - Singapore: SCDF Fire Code, SS 553, NEA, BCA — Removes the grease accumulation SCDF identifies as a leading cause of duct fires. - Hong Kong: FSD Code of Practice, Cap. 123J, Cap. 132CE, Circular 2/2023 — All-metal mesh variant avoids special-filter reclassification. - Malaysia: Bomba (Fire Services Act 1988), UBBL 1984, NFPA 96 principles — Lowers the fire load assessed at Bomba design consultation. ## Use cases - Marine and cruise: SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 9.7.5 allows an approved alternative grease removal system in place of a removable grease trap. Lynx is positioned in that role, supplied as the all-metal mesh variant (no polymer parts) with DNV as the primary class route (cross-recognised by Lloyd's Register and ABS). It removes the cause of a galley fire by separating 100% of the liquid fat droplets before they reach the duct. - Airports: There is no separate aviation standard; terminals follow national building and fire code (in Norway TEK17, Imkanal 2012:2, NS-EN 16282) plus the building owner's specification for continuous performance and building-management-system monitoring. Lynx Kitchen is the only documented solution that meets Avinor Oslo Airport's requirements for grease separation from kitchen ventilation at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, where an ongoing SINTEF project recovers heat directly downstream of a Lynx unit. ## Lynx Embedded (OEM for hood manufacturers) Lynx Embedded is the OEM configuration of Lynx Kitchen, integrated into a hood at the point of manufacture so the hood ships as one certified unit with continuous grease separation already inside. It gives manufacturers a self-cleaning grease separator feature with no R&D spend and no change to on-site installation. CE marked, plug and play at 220–240 V, 90 W; proven inside a third-party hood at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. Particularly relevant for GC 11 (France) and F400 installations generally. ## Documentation - Camfil — close collaboration partner; Camfil filters are used to capture dry particles - NTNU — FTIR spectroscopy research on grease chemistry in ventilation air - DNV — independent risk assessment (2012) - Lager 11, Trondheim — 5 years uninterrupted operation, camera-documented (installed 2020) - Oslo Airport / Caverion — field measurement 2024: "ducts are still clean after 1 year" - Burger King City Syd — 3–5 kg grease removed per hood per year (installed 2023) ## IP and market position Patent NO20092260 (priority 2009) approved in 10 jurisdictions. Divisional patent PCT/EP2021/080260 filed 2021. In 2019, Absolent Group paid 127 MSEK for a technologically inferior competing solution — external validation of market value. The EU EPBD directive now mandates heat recovery in commercial ventilation systems, where chemically clean ducts are a technical prerequisite. ## Recognition Lynx Kitchen was awarded NEMITEK VVS Project of the Year 2025 on 13 November 2025 in the Trøndelag region. ## Links - Product: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/product - About: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/about - News: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/news - Contact: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/contact - Investors: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/investors - Partners: https://www.lynxkitchen.com/partners
